WHAT TO EXPECT:
ARTWORK
THE COMMISSION PROCESS
An art commission is a creative collaboration between you, the client, and me, the artist. Commissioning artwork allows you the opportunity to have a unique and personalized piece of fine art created in my aesthetic to your specifications. I will work alongside you to understand your specific needs for the artwork. It all begins with an email. Then if you are local we can meet in person, if not, we can schedule a phone consultation.
COMMISSION COMPOSITIONS
The compositions offered fall into one of three categories: Marshscapes, Oysters or Botanicals. Clients can reference my past works via Instagram and the online gallery for inspiration.
SCULPTED MARSHSCAPES
The marshscapes that I create originated from photos my husband would send me while fishing in the beautiful marshes. The composition of a marshscape may be more meaningful to you if the horizon lines are in the upper or lower third of a marshscape depending on if you would like to have more sky or more water and land in the final piece. You can review past works of mine to see which you prefer.
You may choose colors within my color palette and indicate if you prefer a lighter or darker over-all feel. More blues for a lighter feel, deep greens for a moody feel. Do you like drips? Do you prefer more or less texture? The client's wishes about details should be expressed.
SCULPTED OYSTERS
The sculpted oysters that I create can be arranged to your liking. They are typically sculpted in a "loose" pattern, as though they were tossed on the canvas or in a more structured, grid-like pattern. Many examples are available in my online gallery.
You may choose colors within my color palette for the background. Again, do you like drips? Do you prefer more or less texture? Do you wish to have a specific number of oysters? The client's wishes about details should be expressed.
SCULPTED BOTANICALS
The sculpted botanicals are typically arranged in an organic manner, as if they are growing and stretching across the canvas. My interpretation of Japanese Magnolias are more favorite to sculpt, but I am open to other florals and botanicals.
You may choose colors within my color palette for the background and the actual petals. As always, do you like drips? Do you prefer more or less texture? The client's wishes about details should be expressed.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
SIZE:
Standard canvas sizes are listed in the price list below with a gallery wrapped edge of 1.5 inch. Canvas sizes 48x60 and over are 2.5 inches.
TIMEFRAME:
Typically, pieces can be completed within 4-6 weeks of final agreement.
CUSTOM FRAMING:
Framing is available for an additional charge and may add up to two weeks to the timeline. If the piece needs to be completed by a specific date, that information is requested and I will do my best to accomodate.
REVISIONS:
Due to the process and materials used in my artwork, revisions are very limited. All wishes should be expressed prior to the final agreement. Prior to completion you will be contacted and a photo will be sent for approval or an appointment can be scheduled for a viewing. The piece will be unfinished.
